Who we are
AfricanBlackwood.com is a domain that has been registered by Inchope Madeiras (http://www.woodmarket.com), the biggest Mozambican sawmill. This company built in 1995 in Chimoio, Manica's province, a 3 million USD sawmill. Since then, Inchope Madeiras has been exporting air dried strips of several Mozambican Hardwoods species to Europe, Asia, United States of America and South Africa.
In 2002, Inchope Madeiras has started cutting and exporting African Blackwood logs. After realizing that the volumes available were quite small, Inchope Madeiras ended logs' exportations to Asian countries and created a new division whose core business is the production and exportation of high quality African Blackwood sets that will be used on the production of musical instruments, principally woodwinds and particularly clarinets but also oboes, bagpipes and wooden flutes. Inchope Madeiras also produces pen blanks, knife blanks and turning wood.
Inchope Madeiras has been gaining a big market share on this specific market segment due to the following reasons:
We do not import African Blackwood logs. We cut them on our own Mozambican concessions. This means that we only cut the best logs. Furthermore, as the logs are rapidly stocked on a warehouse at our sawmill, the logs grade is not affected by the weather. When the raw material is first class, the final sets will definitely match the clients' expectations.
Inchope Madeiras Mozambican employees have an ancestral know-how on this specie. They know better than anyone else its outstanding features and the best ways to cut it.
Currently, Inchope Madeiras main clients for African Blackwood are European, South Korean and North American companies that manufacture woodwind and stringed instruments. On the turning wood segment, our main clients are North American companies.
Besides African Blackwood, Inchope Madeiras also supplies this market segment with Pau Ferro, Chacate Preto, Monzo, African Sandalwood (Tambotie) and Panga-Panga.
